SHOULD & MUST

Wouldn’t it be great if people didn’t expect excessive gratitude and over-the-top praise for things that should already be done?

I will not thank someone simply for not stealing—because they shouldn’t be stealing in the first place.

I will not call a man a super husband just because he doesn’t gamble, abuse his wife, or cheat on her.

And I will not expect extra praise at work just for doing my job as expected, within the given time and performance standards.

Words and reactions should be grounded in solid reasons.

If there is criticism, let it be clear and justified.

If there is praise, let it be earned.

Instead of these empty, automatic compliments and criticisms—

“You should say this, you should act this way, you should motivate, you should praise”

How much better would it be if people were simply genuine with each other?

There are words so hollow, I’d rather embrace silence.
